Basecamp does not see moved maps

Berichtdoor Bleizy » 20 mar 2018 08:42

Hello,

I am using Garmin and Javawa products for several years with satisfaction.
But I recently changed my computer, moving from an iMac with OS X El Capitan to a Mac mini with OS X High Sierra.

But when I use GMTK to move a map to another folder, the .gmap file is moved, an alias is created, .... but BaseCamp does not see the map anymore !
On my previous computer I had no problem, that worked perfectly.

Basecamp can see the maps if they are located in the default place (username/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps/).
But not if they are moved.
To be more precise, the very strange thing is that if the map is moved one level higher (i.e. in username/Library/Application/ Support/Garmin) Basecamp sees the map. But if it is moved two (i.e. in username/Library/Application Support/) or more levels, or to a completely different place, BaseCamp does not see it !

I checked all 'access rights', both in my folders and the destination folders, I tried with different maps, always the same.
If I manually create an alias and manually move the map, same problem.

Very strange behaviour. Does anybody has an idea ?
Is it due to BaseCamp (version 4.6.3) ? to OS X (10.13.3) ?
How can I move my maps to a different place ?

Thanks for your help.

Did you install BaseCamp from the Mac App Store? If so, discard it and install the version from here: https://www8.garmin.com/support/downloa ... sp?id=4449
Kijk op https://www.javawa.nl voor software voor Mac OS en Windows, informatie, tips en poi's

I was not sure from where I installed it, so I re-installed BaseCamp from your link.
And it WORKS !

I really do not understand : Both versions are 4.6.3. So it should be the same program, no ?? Strange ....

Anyway, Thanks a lot !

The App Store version has some sandbox-related restrictions, so it cannot access files outside its own folder without your explicit consent.
