Upgrade your zumo 590 to the zumo 595 firmware

Why?
- Spotify support
- Garmin Adventurous Routing (with 3 slides to adjust preferences)
- Live tracking
- Better Whereto Menu
- Fatigue Warnings
- Advance Audible Rider Alerts (Animal and Railroad crossings, Schools, Curves, Slow Traffic and Speed Limit Reduction/Exceeded)
- Exchanging routes to zumo using Garmin Smartphone Link App (uses Bluetooth).

Precondition:
- Use a Windows computer version: 7, 8 or 10 (virtual Windows fails!)
- Stop Garmin Express
- No need to install Garmin USB Drivers

Follow these steps:
* Download the Garmin Updater program SoftwareMissing.zip.
* Unpack the zip file and delete all file, except for the Updater.exe file.
* Download TurboCCC RGN_Tool.
* Unpack the zip file and use the RGN_Tool.exe file.
* Download the Zumo595 firmware version 4.50 from here
* Open the Zumo595_450.gcd file in the RGN_Tool and do a Save to RGN (Zumo595_450.rgn)
* Drag the Zumo595_450.rgn file to the Updater.exe and say yes to give it Administrator permissions.
* Choose for; USB Device

* Take your zumo 595 and make sure its completely switched off.
* Take your zumo 590 and plug in the Micro USB plug into the back of the zumo.
* Place your fingers on the left upper and left lower corner (or one finger in the lower right corner).
* Plug the USB cable into the computer.
* Wait till you see; System Loader in small font in the top of the zumo screen (computer should do pling/plong for usb connection).
* Press OK in the Updater
* If the Updater starts to load the firmware, release your fingers from the screen.
* Be patient to let it complete.

* After updating your zumo will restart and take a while (reading maps).
* Then it will ask you for your Country and the joy can start.
* Place your zumo 595 next to a window to let it receive GPS signal.
* Update your zumo with text, keyboard and other small updates using Garmin Express.

For Spotify with zumo 595:
* In bluetooth settings: rename your device to zumo 595 and nothing else! (source)

Roll back?
If it all fails and/or you want to revert back to the zumo 590 firmware, repeat the whole process and use the last zumo 590 firmware, which is currently the file: zumo590_330.gcd also available at the Index of Perry.

Tip for Dutch users!
Download the attached text files (original 595 files) from this post and place all three of them in your zumo:\Text\ folder, overwrite the old files.

Also not possible to make a 395 from a 390.

Good evening.
I have some small problem.
I did that conversion year ago. It worked somehow. Then I went back to original 590 firmware. Tried today to flash my 590 again but ...
Holding finger lower right corner, plug into usb. There is something different as you wrote Marco. I have only "System" no "System Loader". Which means updater cannot see my 590 connected to pc. And don't ask me ho I did it year ago, don't remember
Tried all usb sockets, tried severals cables no success. Any idea please ?

I did it. But had to install Garmin usb drivers. Win 7 - 32.

As a first thing I would like to thank you for the help. I installed the new firmware and everything works well, I noticed that some functions are missing such as tire pressure and fuel consumption. I wanted to know if I could install the versions of firmware 4.10 or 3.20 I could fix the problem or better still find version 2.20 and then make all the updates you might have these two applications. Additionally, those who have upgraded the firmware could see if they are present in their ZUMO or they depend on my mistake.

I presume that it will also work with older firmware versions. Google for "Index of Perry" and you will find all firmware versions.

But, tire pressure and fuel are only to be found if the zumo is placed in a motormount and with activity switched to motor, otherwise it will not show in the menus.

The new 595 settings, like audible riders alert, are in Englisch not Dutch.
With Basecamp I can not switch to the map on the Zumo.
When I want to search, the results are English or Dutch

Did you do de last step? Garmin Express Update?

Make sure you go outside and drive also a bit to skip the first notice (accepting things).

I have done the update again and then again update with Garmin Express. But when I set the language to Netherland, the language remains partly English.

Sorry, don't have a complete solution, mine has still some english texts also. Maybe if you remove all text files (make backup) and try webupdater (zumo in MSS and not MTP) en/or Express to update them all again.

By the way, I wonder if this would affect my LM (lifetime map) map updates eligibility after when I have flashed my Zumo firmware from 590 to 595?
