1. Yes, normal
2. Go drive :)
3. Often after fresh installation devices they feel faster (also after factory reset).

Smartlink Garmin is repaired, today I did send successful a track in a GPX file via Smartlink app (on Android) to the zumo 595. And got a message that there was a new file and if I wanted to import it on the 595.

Sadly the update of the SmartLink app is only for Android
iOS has still the version 4.9.6 of october 2018

Thanks - my ride was fine this morning :-D
I do need to turn off some Notifications in the Smartlink app
I was on my commute so know the roads but like the warning of slow traffic and bends ahead!

I'll wait for 4.5 to come via Express I think.

Many thanks

The Android version that came out on 11th Jan is 2.9.7

All it says though is "We have improved the stability of the app. Enjoy your drive". I've found that I now have to use the Stop/Start button in the app and that it doesn't connect automatically now. This looks like an app issue rather than being related to my upgrade to 595.

I have now updated my 590 to 595. Many thanks for the instructions. I have one somewhat annoying problem, though. When I switch on Garmin, it prompts for accepting the End user licence agreement and even if I accept all, next time when I switch on the unit I have to do the same thing again. Is there a way to disable this.

Thank you for this amazing thread, with accurate instructions! I registered just to say BIG and FAT: Thank you! :)

Updated my "beated by offroad use" ZUmo 590 to 595 with no issues and gave it a new life (transfering gpx routes from phone to Zumo is a must in offroading these days, since majority of my friends use KMZ and KML tracks format, which now I can convert on the fly on smartphone AND send promptly to mu Garmin. All that in 5min on the track itself!!). Thanks again!!

Another thing - I can confirm that I did installation using virtual machine: Parallels VM + old WinXP VM. Trick is to dedicate usb connection to VM and to have non generic usb drivers (so updater can recognize Garmin device). Anyway, it is possible and you do not need actual Windows box to do the upgrade!

Cheers from Belgrade!

Not sure if this is common or just me. I have now upgraded via Garmin Express to 4.60 : my 595 shows it was successful, however Express keeps telling me to upgrade (along with Time Zone Map V22.00 and Proximity Alert V3.60).

Any one else?

I replaced the garmindevice.xml file with the edited one I'd saved before and now all seems fine.

I stay with 4.50, because in 4.60 they cut out the feature of sharing routes... so I read somewhere else.
I have an occasionally reboot, but that is all.

With my Oneplus 3T I have some bluetooth issues. Losing connections. But with my Samsung S6 no problemo.
Live track is working fine by the way.

Best regards Otto
